Dear friends and museum lovers,

This coming November, the Nias Heritage Museum (Museum Pusaka Nias), the only museum on Nias Island and a privately run institution will celebrate its 31st anniversary. As we mark this milestone, we remain committed and focused on providing educational experiences that introduce cultural heritage, local wisdom, and natural treasures to young children, particularly kindergarten students. We aim to introduce them to traditional Nias games and invite them to explore the natural and cultural heritage housed within the museum. The theme of this activities is “Little Explorers: Play, Learn and Discover Culture”.

We have distributed information to various schools in Gunungsitoli City; however, most schools face financial constraints regarding the admission fee of Rp20,000 (approximately 1 Euro) per child.
Two years ago, 1,300 children from kindergartens participated in a similar program, showing great enthusiasm as they enjoyed playing and exploring the museum’s exhibitions. However the situation now is different, due to increasingly difficult economic conditions. Schools are requesting free admission because most parents cannot afford to pay the entrance fee for their children.

While we deeply desire for children to access the museum for free and enjoy the cultural education, we must also ensure the museum’s continued survival and sustainability. We need to cover costs for cleaning staff, utilities (water and electricity), and the educators and guides who will work with the students, as well as purchase the necessary teaching equipment to support the kids.

We would be incredibly grateful if you and your colleagues could help these children participate in the museum’s cultural learning activities. In doing so, you would also be supporting the museum’s continuity and helping to preserve Nias culture as part of our shared global heritage.

If you would like to support this program you can donate via the museum’s PayPal link: paypal.me/YAYPUSAKANIAS, Email: dionisius98@gmail.com. Every donated fund ensures that one kindergarten student can enjoy and learn the history and traditional games that make up the heritage of Nias.
Thank you for your assistance. Greetings and respect,

P. Dionisius Laia, OFMCap.
